Product design

UI/UX design for the software a business runs on, the portals, dashboards and internal tools that clients and staff open every working day.

Makati is where much of the country's banking, insurance, outsourcing and tech work is managed, and a lot of that work runs on websites and software that were built quickly and never really designed. That is the software I design, and the part of the work that pays back fastest is usually the screen staff use all day.

B2B and SaaS products

Working together

Meet in Makati, then keep it moving online

I am based in Metro Manila and meet clients in Makati in person. For product work that matters more than it does for a website, because the best research is watching people use what they have now. Two hours beside an operations team in their own office tells me more than a week of remote calls.

After discovery the work runs online, in Figma and in writing, the same way I work with product teams in the US, Australia and Asia.

  • User interviews and process walkthroughs
  • Weekly design reviews online, one consolidated round of feedback
  • Specs your engineers can build from, in Figma Dev Mode
  • A designer who stays reachable while it is built

How an engagement runs

Structure gets decided first.
Surface comes after.

One workflow is three to five weeks.
A product with several roles is eight to twelve.

Four stages / three to twelve weeks

Stage / 01

Discovery. Interviews, a walkthrough of how the job is done today, and the spreadsheet or chat thread the software has to replace.

Stage / 02

Structure. The data as users see it, the navigation, and the states every order, request or record moves through.

Stage / 03

Interface. High fidelity screens for every state, including empty, error and far more data than anyone demoed.

Stage / 04

Handoff. Annotated specs, build reviews and design QA, so what ships is what was designed.

What it costs

I quote each project once I've read the brief

Each quote covers the design, and I work the number out from how many workflows and roles the product has and how much your team has already decided, so a short description of the software and the people who use it is enough for me to price it.

Common questions

Before you get in touch

Do you meet clients in Makati?

Yes. I am based in Metro Manila and meet clients in Makati in person, usually for the kickoff, discovery and the key reviews. The rest of the project runs online, which keeps it moving between meetings instead of waiting for them.

What does a UI/UX designer actually do?

UX covers what the product does and how people move through it, the structure, the flows and the states. UI covers how each screen looks and behaves. For business software the UX half carries most of the value. I unpack the difference in UI vs UX designer.

How long does product design take?

Three to five weeks for one workflow and eight to twelve for a product with two or three roles. Where the weeks go is in how long MVP design takes.

Should we hire a freelancer or an agency?

A freelancer for a defined product or workflow, where you want the person you speak to doing the design. An agency when you need several specialists at once and are paying for that capacity. The trade-offs are in freelance vs agency.

Can you work inside our team's process?

Yes. I join your planning, keep designs in a Figma file your team can open, and hand specs to engineering in Dev Mode. I do not need a separate process of my own to be useful.

Do you work with businesses outside Makati?

Yes, across Metro Manila and abroad. Makati is simply where in-person meetings are easiest to arrange. For other kinds of work in Makati, see web design in Makati and front-end development in Makati.
