What I build

Eight kinds of build

Every build starts from a signed-off design, which is most often my own, so the site in the browser matches the site which you approved.

Custom WordPress themes

A theme written for the one site which it serves, with a field for every word and image which your team edits, and only the code which each page uses.

Elementor builds

Elementor sites built from the design with global colours, fonts and classes set up first, so your team can lay out new pages while the design holds.

Webflow builds

Sites which your marketing team publishes to and rearranges in Webflow's editor, built from reusable sections so a new page still looks designed.

Page-builder rebuilds

Slow Elementor or Divi sites rebuilt as a lean theme or a clean Elementor build, with the same pages at the same addresses, so the site loads faster and keeps its rankings.

Builds from your design

A finished Figma file from your team or agency, built as drawn, with its states, breakpoints and motion treated as part of the design.

Motion and interaction

Scroll reveals, smooth scrolling and 3D moments in GSAP and Three.js where they guide the eye, with a calmer version for visitors who ask for less motion.

Forms and integrations

Enquiry and booking forms which reach the right inbox, connections to your CRM or email tool, and analytics which count the enquiries as well as the visits.

Speed and search foundations

WebP images at the size they are shown, scripts which load after the content, clean headings and redirects, all checked in Lighthouse before launch.

How a build runs

Your team edits the site,
and it stays fast after they do.

Every editable part has a field made for it,
so the layout keeps its shape.

Four stages / four to six weeks with design

Stage / 01

The content model comes first, which is what your team edits, where and how often, so every editable part of every page has a field made for it.

Stage / 02

Then the components, where I break the design into the sections which every page is made of and build each one once, on a staging link which you can open from the first week.

Stage / 03

Testing happens on real phones and laptops, with keyboard passes, forms which actually send and a Lighthouse performance score of 90 or more on mobile.

Stage / 04

At launch every old address receives a redirect, the analytics and the search basics are in place, and your team receives handover notes which they can follow.

Custom theme or Elementor

The build which suits your team

I would write a custom theme when speed and a fixed design matter most, because the theme loads only what each page uses and your team edits every page in fields labelled for what goes in them, which is also how this site is built.

I would build in Elementor when your team wants to lay out new pages themselves, and then I set up the global colours, fonts and classes before the first page, so a page which someone builds later still follows the design.

  • A custom theme loads only the code which each page uses
  • An Elementor build gives your team control of the layout
  • Either way the global styles are set up before the first page
  • Either way the pages and addresses which rank today carry over

What it costs

I quote each project once I've read the brief

Each quote follows how many different layouts the site needs, since I build each layout once and reuse it, and it covers a build from your own design as well as a site which I design first, while hosting and the domain stay separate costs.

Common questions

Before you contact me

What is custom WordPress development?

It means I write a WordPress theme for your one site, so the site carries only the code which it uses and the editing screens show your team the fields for their content and nothing else.

Do you build in Elementor?

Yes, I build in Elementor when your team wants to lay out new pages themselves, and I set up the global colours, fonts and classes before the first page, so the pages which your team builds later still follow the design. When speed matters most, I would write a custom theme instead.

Can my team edit the site after launch?

Yes, in a custom theme every page has fields for its words and images, an Elementor build lets your team change the layout as well, and a Webflow build gives your team its visual editor, so in each case the design holds whatever your team types in.

Can you build from a design we already have?

Yes, send me the Figma file and I'll check the states and breakpoints which the design has to cover before I quote, because I think those decide the size of a build more than the page count does.

Can you rebuild our site without losing rankings?

Yes, every page which ranks keeps its address or receives a redirect, the titles and descriptions carry over and the new site goes live in one switch, which is how this site moved from Elementor to a custom theme. The website redesign checklist covers each step.

How fast will the site be?

I treat speed as part of the build from the first page, so images are served as WebP at the size they are shown, scripts load after the content and I build to a Lighthouse performance score of 90 or more on mobile. The trade-offs are in WordPress vs custom code.

How long does a build take?

A company website takes four to six weeks with the design and the build together, and a landing page takes one to three, but I think the content and the feedback set the pace more than the code does, as I explain in how long a website takes to build.

Do you build web apps in React?

My builds are websites, written in HTML, CSS and JavaScript as WordPress themes or built in Elementor and Webflow, and for a React product I design the screens and write the spec which your engineers build from, which is the UI/UX side of my work.
